That’s right, caring is free, it costs you little more than your time.
All things come full circle.
What had become in the last decade a waterfall of “transactional sales” or “transactional buyers” has shifted. The internet was the great equalizer when it came to price shopping (especially in automotive).
At first, it seems that shortcuts or laziness may save some time, especially in the business world. But ultimately, shortcuts never pay off.
Don’t worry so much about the trash there on the floor, the bathroom… that can get done later. Problem is, it bleeds into your other work. Complete credit app, proof of income, accurate address info… NAH, let the bank figure it out! Don’t worry so much about one particular customer, because you’re busy and it takes time; and time is money.
You don’t need to focus so heavily on that one customer, don’t worry so much, they will be fine.
Have you ever heard the saying, “There isn’t enough time to do it right, but there is always enough time to do it again.” It’s a paradox. Because if you just did things right in the first place, they wouldn’t need to be done a second time.
Caring pays for itself. It pays in unfound time, it pays in unspent energy. Time and energy that don’t have to be spent more than once fixing something that should have been done properly in the first place. Time and energy are two of your most valuable resources.
Caring, genuine caring, as a person and as a business will generate fiercely loyal customers, and your cup will runneth over with referral business and word of mouth. People and organizations that care about people, will win. Whether it’s caring about their employees or their customers, these are the relational organizations that will flourish in the times ahead.
Not to mention, a genuine, caring connection makes us more human, and we could all use a little more humanity.
